Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll pg.131-138

The duchess doesn't trust Alice's flamingo, so she takes it from her.  Throughout their conversation, the duchess keeps telling Alice morals that relate to what they are talking about.  All of a sudden, the duchess freezes and Alice doesn't know why, but then she sees the queen standing in front of them.  The Queen quickly orders the duchess to be executed, and then she takes Alice back to the croquet game.  The game continues with the queen sentencing people to death.  They are in the middle of the game when the queen asks Alice, "Have you seen the Mock Turtle yet?"  Alice tells her she hasn't, and the queen decides to take her to it.  On their way to see the Mock Turtle, they run into a sleeping gryphon.
