Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll pg. 143-148
The Mock Turtles tells Alice and the gryphon that he went to school in the ocean, and everyone called his teacher tortoise. Alice is about to ask another question when the Turtle tells her not to speak. The Turtle says the classes they had at his school were French, Music, and washing. He tells them he couldn't afford to take those classes, so he took the regular course. He then starts to name the classes he did take, but Alice has never heard of the classes he is talking about. The Turtle says that everyday school was let out an hour earlier, and on the first day there was ten hours of school. Then, the Turtle looses it again and starts crying. The gryphon tries to shake him out of it, so the Turtle can continue to tell the story.
